C-Section, Hysterectomy & Abdominal Scar Therapy in Langley, Berkshire.
With over 7 years specialising in scar therapy and more than 22 years’ experience as a Personal Trainer and Massage Therapist, I take a whole-body approach to recovery after a C-section, hysterectomy or other abdominal surgery. By combining scar massage, exercise, movement, Pilates and nutritional advice, I help women improve their mobility, rebuild their strength and feel more confident in their bodies after surgery.
In addition, I have been a Pilates Instructor for over 14 years and have completed specialist training in women’s health, core rehabilitation, postnatal recovery and scar therapy. Over the years, therefore, I have supported hundreds of women to recover from surgery, move more comfortably and rebuild their strength and confidence.
However, I don’t just focus on the scar itself. Instead, I look at the bigger picture. This includes how your whole body is moving, how your scar may be affecting your posture and core, your pelvic health and, most importantly, what you want to get back to doing. From there, and depending on your individual needs, I give you the right combination of hands-on scar therapy, movement and simple, achievable exercises to support your recovery.
How C-Section, Hysterectomy & Abdominal Scar Therapy Can Help
C-section, hysterectomy and abdominal scar therapy can help improve the movement and flexibility of scar tissue following a C-section, hysterectomy or other abdominal surgery.
As your scar heals, the tissues can sometimes feel tight, sensitive, numb or restricted. As a result, you may experience pulling sensations or discomfort around the abdomen. Furthermore, some women notice changes in their posture, core function or how their tummy feels and looks.
However, you don’t simply have to put up with it.
Instead, scar therapy uses gentle, hands-on techniques to work with the scar and surrounding tissues. In turn, this can help improve tissue mobility, circulation and flexibility. As a result, depending on your individual recovery, treatment may help reduce feelings of tightness and restriction, improve comfort and help you feel more connected with your body.
A Whole-Body Approach to Scar Recovery
Your scar doesn’t exist in isolation. Therefore, I don’t just treat the scar itself. Instead, I look at how your whole body is moving and consider the bigger picture. This includes how your scar may be affecting your posture, core, pelvic health and everyday movement.
Because every woman, surgery and scar is different, every treatment plan is tailored specifically to you. Furthermore, I always work at a pace that feels comfortable. Before we begin, I assess your scar and the surrounding tissues so that, together, we can understand what your body needs.
C-section, hysterectomy and abdominal scar therapy is available in Langley and at Datchet & Eton Health Club.
Rebuilding Your Core & Strength After Surgery
Scar therapy can be an important part of recovery. However, the right movement and exercise can also play an important role. Therefore, where appropriate, I combine hands-on treatment with carefully selected exercises to support your wider recovery.
As a specialist Personal Trainer with extensive training in women’s health and core rehabilitation, I can help you gradually and safely rebuild your core strength and confidence. At the same time, we can focus on improving how you move and helping you feel more comfortable in your body.
Depending on your goals, this may include simple home exercises, core rehabilitation, Pilates-inspired movement or progressive strength training. For example, you may want to feel stronger after pregnancy or surgery, return to exercise, get back to lifting weights or simply feel more comfortable in your body.
Whatever your starting point, we begin there and progress gradually.
I offer one-to-one personal training in my private gym in Langley. Here, we can work progressively towards your individual goals in a comfortable and supportive environment.
Ultimately, scar therapy and the right exercise can work hand in hand to support your recovery.

Combining Scar Therapy, Exercise & Nutritional Support
At Simple-Changes, I combine scar massage and therapy, core rehabilitation, movement, exercise and nutritional guidance to support your recovery.
Most importantly, I look at what will work for you. Rather than following a one-size-fits-all approach, I consider your body, your lifestyle and what you want to achieve. Then, together, we can take your recovery step by step.
Whether your goal is to feel more comfortable, improve your movement, rebuild your core, return to the gym or simply feel stronger and more confident, I can help you find the right place to start and, from there, progress at a pace that feels right for you.
Ultimately, recovery isn’t about rushing back to where you were before. Instead, it’s about helping your body move forward, become stronger and feel more capable.

C-Section Scar Massage FAQ
When can I start scar massage after a C-section?
You can typically begin around 8 weeks postnatal, once your scar is fully healed and you’ve had clearance from your midwife, GP, or consultant.
Why should I get a C-section scar massage?
Scar massage can help:
Reduce tightness, numbness, or pulling
Improve blood flow and healing
Prevent or soften adhesions (internal scar tissue)
Support emotional healing and body confidence
Does it hurt?
No – it should never be painful. We work gently and gradually, only within your comfort zone. You’re always in control.
What does a scar massage session involve?
A gentle consultation and check-in
Hands-on massage around the scar and surrounding tissues
Education on how to safely massage the scar at home
- Home exercises to help strengthen your core & reduce the overhang
Breathing and relaxation techniques to support healing
Can you still massage older scars?
Yes! Even if your C-section was months or years ago, scar therapy can still be beneficial. It’s never too late to support better function and comfort.
What should I wear to a session?
Wear comfortable clothing. You may be asked to lower your waistband slightly for access to the scar area. Your privacy and comfort are always respected.
Is it safe after multiple C-sections?
Yes – massage can be especially helpful if you've had multiple surgeries, as it helps release deeper layers of scar tissue.
Do I need to bring anything?
Just bring yourself. If you’ve had recent clearance or notes from your doctor or midwife, you’re welcome to share them, but it’s not essential.
How many sessions will I need?
It depends on your scar, how your body is healing, and your goals. Some people feel relief after 1–2 sessions, while others benefit from a few more for lasting change.
